Цель: повышение мотивации к изучению английского языка

Задачи: Образовательная: расширять кругозор учащихся.

Воспитательная: воспитывать уважительное отношение к другой культуре; воспитывать умение работать в команде

Развивающая: способствовать развитию познавательной активности; формировать навык работы в команде, умение применять полученные знания на практике;

Оборудование: компьютер, презентация, раздаточный материал, картинки, призы победителям, музыкальное оформление

Ход мероприятия

- Good afternoon, children and our guests! I’m very glad to see you here. Now we shall organize a competition called “In the world of English”. Two teams will take part in a game of the most quick-witted and the cleverest. Everybody will have possibility to be a winner. You will have different tasks. Jury will give you scores. At the end of the lesson the winner will be given a prize. Be very attentive and try to do everything correctly. So, let's begin. I wish you good luck!

1 stage – Introduction

- It’s time to introduce yourselves. You can see paper and different pencils on your desks. You have to make up the name of your team, motto and draw your emblem and also choose the captain of your team. For this task you have 5 minutes. Let’s go! The clock started ticking!

- The time is over! Which team wants to start?

- Who is the captain of your team?

- The captain introduces the team.

P1: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is …. Our motto is “___”

- Who is the captain of the 2nd team?

P2: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is….. Our motto is “____”.

- Dear Jury assesses the teams. The maximum point - 5 points.

2 stage - True English speaker

- Our second task is tongue-twister.

- Now we’ll know the best English speaker of our school!

- I have 6 cards with tongue-twister. Each team has to choose 2 cards. Read these tongue-twisters and try to pronounce them correctly and quickly.

- Who’ll read your tongue-twisters quicker and more correctly gets 5 points.

- You can get acquainted with your tongue-twisters one minute and then we'll start!

- Let’s go! The clock started ticking!

- Dear Jury, who in your opinion was better?

- Better team gets 5 points and other - 3 points!

The announcement of the preliminary results

- Dear Jury announce the preliminary results, please.

- At the moment the _____ team is in the lead, but ____ team still has possibility to win! We continue our competition!

3 stage – The Code

- Now we’ll be with you as cryptographers. Next task is code. Each team will get cipher text and alphabet. Who decode this text faster and correctly- get 5 points.

Key: It is awfully hard work doing nothing. – Это ужасно тяжелая работа – ничего не делать.

- Very nice! You are good cryptographers! But ___ team gets 5 points and ___ team – only 3. And we pass to the following task.

4 stage – Song

- In the next task we will listen to the song and write down the missing words on the cards. You will listen to the song twice. Be careful, please.

- The best team gets for this task 10 point and other – 7 points.

- Jury checks our teams. Who has the most right answers?

- And now we have final task for today! This task solves who is the winner of this competition, because team gets 2 points for each correct answer!
