– Well… Boys, you have already seen the bathroom, the laundry room and the bedroom in my house. Would you like to go to my place and see the rest of the house?

– Oh, wow! That would be awesome!

– Kevin, what rooms are you going to show us today?

– Well… I can show you the living room, the dining room and the kitchen.

– Oh, sounds interesting!

– Yeah! Kevin, we can’t wait to see the rest of your house!

– I’m happy to hear that. In this case, let’s go!

So, today in the lesson we will:

learn new words and revise the old ones;

● talk about things in a living room, dining room and kitchen;

● revise the verb “have got”;

And

put the knowledge into practice.

– Boys, as you already know, this is my house.

– Thank you, guys! Now look! This is my living room. This is my dining room. And this is the kitchen. Now let’s go inside the house!

– Yes, you are absolutely right! The rooms I’m going to show you today are situated on this floor.

– Boys, before I show you the rooms, let’s revise the verb “have got”.

– Sure!

The verb “have got” is translated as:

Иметь, владеть, обладать

Now let’s answer the question:

When do we use the verb “have got”?

We use this verb to talk about possession.

For example:

My grandmother has got three goats and a cow.

The verb “have got” is used to talk about relationships.

For instance:

I have got two brothers and two sisters.

This verb is also used to talk about illnesses.

For example:

Jennifer has got a slight headache.

We use “have got” to talk about characteristics.

For instance:

I have got brown hair, blue eyes and a big mouth.

Now let’s answer the question:

How do we form sentences with the verb “have got”?

To form positive sentences we put the subject in the first place.

For example: I, He, She, It, You, We, They.

Then we put the verb “have” if we use the pronouns: I, you, we, they. And we put the verb “has” if we use the pronouns: he, she, it. After that we put the word “got”.

For instance:

My parents have got a large brown dog.

Or… Stephanie has got an intelligent horse.

To form negative sentences we put the subject in the first place.

For example: I, He, She, It, You, We, They.

Then we put the verb “have” or “has” with the particle “not”. The short forms are “haven’t” and “hasn’t”. After that we put the word “got”.

For instance:

We haven’t got much money left.

Or… Kate hasn’t got a free day this week.

To form questions we put the verb “have” or “has” in the first place. Then we put the subject. For example: I, He, She, It, You, We, They.

After that we need to use the word “got”.

For instance:

Have you got a minute? I need to ask you some questions.

Or

Has your new flat got a balcony?

– Boys, we have revised the verb “have got”.

– Yes, that’s right!

– Now I can show you the rooms.

– Okay, Kevin.

– Look! This is my living room.

– Oh, it’s gorgeous! Can you describe it?

– Yes, of course! My living room is big and comfortable. I’ve got a yellow sofa, a green armchair and a small coffee table in my room.

– Kevin, have you got a fireplace in your living room?

– No, I haven’t. But I have got a TV and a brown bookshelf.
